Your Snapbean team to the rescue!!

We are going to talk Christmas first, since we are shooting our Christmas Tree Family Sessions (believe it or not) before our Fall Family Sessions.  We will send you all of the information about your session, the To Dos and Not To Dos, so we want to make your wardrobe selections as easy as possible, while making you and your family look like a million bucks (without spending that much, of course)!!  🥰

I just went shopping with my daughter four hours before her family session and we put together an entire wardrobe for her family of five in less than one hour!! So let's make this as simple as possible!!  And remember, we will be at a Christmas Tree Farm, so even if it's 90 degrees and the sun is beaming down on us, we MUST look like we are freezing!  ❄️ 🌲

Plaids, bright reds, denim, khakis, vests, boots, scarves, shawls, sweaters, gloves, hats, hats and more hats will be AMAZING!!!

Feel free to call or email us at the studio if you have any questions regarding your wardrobe selections.  We are happy to help!

Well, I did it . . . and you should, too!!! https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2017/5/well-i-did-it-and-you-should-too We had two of our grandchildren for a few days and their mom sent clothes for me to photograph them.  Cam turned two in January, yes, I know I am about five months late (oh, the life of a "real" photographer and their own family members ...) and Harper will be five next week!  I LOVE photographing my grandchildren, but it seems they are the last ones to photograph in my "real" world!

At the last minute, I decided that it would be a good opportunity for grandparent photos!  Yes, I said that correctly!!!  I AM GOING TO BE IN FRONT OF THE CAMERA....NOT BEHIND IT!  Now, that's a scary thought!  And guess what else was a scary thought?  I did not buy a new dress!  I pulled an old shirt out of the closet for Papa!  I did not color my hair beforehand!  I did not have someone put on my make-up!  I didn't even have a cute pair of sandals!  And as you can tell by the images, I did not lose any weight!  HA

So now no one has an excuse!  Grandparents, here me very clearly!!  No matter what you "think" you look like, no matter how difficult it is to get everyone scheduled, no matter the excuse, please, do yourself and your children and grandchildren a favor and GET your photo taken by a professional photographer!!  These will be around for my grandchildren, great grandchildren and many generations to come!

And a HUGE thanks to Mandi for capturing these sweet, sweet images for us!  They are precious and will be treasured forever!  And we had a BLAST!!!

Now I just have to round up the rest of them for MORE grandparent photos!!  HA

2016 Has Been Incredible! But Just Wait For What's In Store for 2017! https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/12/thanks-for-a-wonderful-year

A new year always brings lots of excitement and we are certainly excited here at Snapbean Photography!  WOW!  What a year 2016 has been.  We have had a blast at every session and have enjoyed your children and families so much.  We sincerely THANK YOU for supporting our small business and allowing us to be part of your family!

Mandi and I are both moms, (and I am Nana to seven of the most wonderful grandchildren on the planet!), wives, sisters, daughters, friends, and love to spend time with those we love.  We have worked just about every weekend in 2016 and kept up a pace that was excruciating.  Our goal for 2017 is to provide extraordinary sessions and service for the clients whom we love so much, and find a good balance for us to enjoy this beautiful life!  In 2017, we are happy to provide sessions one Saturday per month, not including our Special Events, and will have normal business hours in the studio Monday through Friday.  We know that some families need the Saturday availability and we want to make sure we can provide that. Please keep in mind that those Saturday sessions will book extremely fast and we ask that you let us know as early as possible if you need a Saturday session.

We have taken a lot of time, effort, and patience to put forth what we believe will be an incredible line of products and sessions for you to enjoy in the coming year.  Due to popular demand, we are now going to offer packages for you to choose from, as our clients have a variety of preferences.  Our packages will now include digital files, prints, canvases and Facebook timelines, depending on the package you choose.  We believe it is important for clients to print their images so that they have hard copies as keepsakes or to be displayed in their homes, offices, or even given as gifts.  We hear so often that clients have several galleries still sitting in their inbox on their computer and had every intention of printing, but just never got around to it. We want to take that worry away and provide something physical you can hold and treasure from your Snapbean session.

Our new packages will focus on excellent quality over quantity. We want our clients to experience wonderful quality in our work and not focus on the quantity of images.  Our goal is to spend more time during your session with you and your family/children and editing beautiful images, rather than zipping through sessions and ending up with so many images we just crop and go!  You will have noticed that we have gone to a much simpler look, rather than so many props in your image that you cannot find the subject. Our goal is to create beautiful art that highlights your loved ones. We know that you have choices in photography and we appreciate that you chose us. We want to create something special that you can't get just anywhere!  Our new packages will be listed on our website at www.snapbeanphotography.com/investment
(Our new pricing structure will not affect our first-year packages that clients have already begun or sessions that have been booked and retainers paid.)

Booking a Regular or Newborn Session - If you know that you need to book a regular session, please book your session at least three months in advance or as early as possible for your family.  If you are an expecting mom, please book your session during your second trimester, as we are only taking a limited number of newborns each month.  If you need to schedule a maternity session, please scheduled so that your session is between your 28th and 32nd week of pregnancy.

Special Event Sessions (formerly Mini Sessions) - We will offer a very limited number of Special Event Sessions this year, due to the volume of regular sessions, and they will go fast.  We will be using a booking service for all of our special event sessions where you will purchase your session.  An announcement for the special events will be made on Facebook and via email to all clients several weeks before the event letting everyone know when the sale starts.  Yes, some of our Special Event Sessions do have an age limit. Please understand it is never our intention to exclude anyone, only to create the best and most beautiful end product we can. Due to space and setups, some sessions only work for younger children.

We are very excited to announce that all Special Event Sessions will include prints and our Santa and Holiday event sessions will include ornaments! This is something gives you a special memento from your Special Event Session and creates special keepsakes for you to enjoy for years to come!
*All Special Event Session dates are subject to change before sessions go on sale.  Locations will be chosen and listed when sessions go on sale.

We have worked incredibly hard this year at providing great customer service and always appreciate feedback from clients to help us grow and become better for you!  Owning a small business is a ton of hard work and sometimes we never know what will work and what will not work until we have tried it.  So always bear with us when we are planning and preparing for sessions and know that we always, always put our hearts and souls into all we do.  The greatest compliment we can receive is your referral. We love that you tell your friends and family about your experience!

It is of the utmost importance to us to get your gallery to our clients as soon as possible.  We know that you are always so excited to receive your images.  Our turnaround time on your digital files is 10-15 business days. Due to the volume of sessions we are shooting, we will no longer be posting a sneak peek from every session, however, we will share as many as possible as time permits.

More than anything, we want to convey that all of this exciting growth would not be possible without the love and support from you! We sincerely thank you and we can't wait to share an amazing year in 2017 with you!

Donna & Mandi

Our Thanks for All They Do https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/7/our-thanks-for-all-they-do On Friday, we held a special event to show our appreciation to our local Law Enforcement Officers and their families. We wanted to do something special to say thanks for all they do, so we offered an entire day of free mini sessions. We booked 30, fifteen-minute mini sessions for the Law Enforcement families to use as they wish. Most came in uniform while others used the opportunity to have a nice family photo made. Some even decided to have a little fun and posed with their children in their Power Wheels vehicles!
Other companies joined us to help make the day special. Ashley Mullins, Owner of the Sonic on New Shackle Island Rd. in Hendersonville donated water and Amanda Harrison of Sweet Treats by Mandy donated cupcakes!
It was hot, with a heat index of 106, but it was worth each moment!
We were humbled by the response we received for this event. And we want to thank each family for not only coming out in the heat but for all you do for our community!
Thanks to those who protect and serve!

Here are a few moments from the day.

What to Wear https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/7/what-to-wear It's one of the most common questions we get... "What do I wear to my photo session?".
We know it can feel a little intimidating to not only have to find the perfect outfit for yourself but even more daunting is dressing your entire family for photos!
So here are our top 5 tips for making your next family photo session the best it can be.

Coordinate Your Family, DON'T MATCH.
If you don't read any further, trust us and read our number one tip.
It's true that it used to be a popular 'thing' for everyone to wear the same outfit. Like jeans and a white t-shirt. Or khakis and a white button down shirt. But notice we said 'used to be.' One of the worst things you can do for your family session is dress everyone the same. And generally speaking, white is one of the worst colors you can choose for photos. It washes out the photos, and it's not very forgiving (you know what we're talking about!). Our best advice is to choose a color palette that you gravitate towards (cools, warms, neutrals) and build from that. Mix and match colors so that everyone compliments each others, not copies each other. Avoid all white or all black colors.

Think Classic.
It's our goal to give you photos that you love so much you want to display them in your home forever. Choose simple, timeless and classic clothes and your photos will have a classic and timeless feel.

Comfy and Cozy.
It's true that there are a million adorable, perfect little outfits you can put your kids in and they will, no doubt, be adorable. But if they aren't comfortable, it's obvious. And it's amplified in your pictures. Make sure the outfits you pick for everyone fit well and are comfortable. And don't forget to dress for your elements. If you've booked a fall session, and it's a chilly day, dress to stay warm. If your family session is scheduled in the spring, dress accordingly. Just because it's cute on a mannequin in a store, doesn't mean it will fit your child, spouse or yourself the way you'd like for photos.

Consider Location.
We will always let you know at least a week before your session where your location will be. If we are shooting in the fall foliage, wear colors that compliment the beauty of the season. Deep reds, oranges, greens and even purple are beautiful in the fall. If we're shooting in the gardens during the spring, pretty bright pinks and teals are always lovely. If you are ever unsure, you are always welcome to ask, and we'll tell you all about your location.

Follow the 3 Ps... Plan, Pinterest, Prep!
It won't be nearly as frustrating the day of your session if you have all outfits already picked, tried on and prepped for your session. Pinterest can be the biggest help when needing ideas for your session! Just search 'What to Wear to Family Photos' and you'll be on information overload. Prep your accessories too. Earrings, scarves, belts... they all make interesting additions to your photos.

Watch Me Grow! https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/6/watch-me-grow We have been a couple of busy little bees over here at the studio! We've been reviewing what works and what doesn't and where we can improve. And because of this, we are really thrilled to announce that starting July 1st; we're introducing our new and improved First-Year package called Watch Me Grow!*

The Watch Me Grow package will now include a creative newborn session, a 4-month session, an 8-month session and the one-year session that includes a cake smash with a custom designed cake. Through many, many sessions, we've learned that the 3-month sessions in the past have been the most difficult. Babies at 3-months aren't really smiling much yet, and some still have trouble holding their heads up. And a lot of babies at 6-months aren't sitting.
We feel that we can give our clients better photos with this session schedule. And hey, we are happiest when our clients are happy!

Here's a little more detail for each session:

  • Creative Newborn Session - Our most popular session, by far, this session is booked for 2 hours with your sweet newborn. Given the answers to your newborn questionnaire, we'll design a session, unique to your family and your baby. Your session includes a minimum of 20 digital images, posted to your personal on-line gallery. You will be able to download your images, share with friends or purchase prints directly from our professional lab. (Stay tuned for information on custom birth announcements coming soon!) We have everything here at our studio that we'll need for your session, including wraps, backdrops, outfits, hats, headbands, tiebacks, and buckets and baskets and rugs, oh my! (See information below on what you can bring.) Your newborn creative session DOES include photos with parents and other siblings. If you choose not to have those photos, we'll add an additional setup for your newborn.

{DETAILS} We highly recommend photographing your newborn between 5-12 days old. It is best to schedule your newborn session 2-3 months before baby is due. With your paid retainer of $50, (that applies to your balance) we hold a session for you. Contact us as soon as you can once you're home with baby (in between feedings and diaper changes!) and we'll firm up the actual date and time of your session.

{WHAT TO BRING} There really isn't much we ask you to bring for your newborn session, just the essentials. For baby, diapers, wipes, blankets, binky, bottle, and formula or breast milk. For family pictures, a black long-sleeve or 3/4 sleeve shirt or a white, cream or earth tone shirt, cami or tank top.

  • 4-Month and 8-Month Sessions - These milestone sessions will capture your little one's personality as he or she grows. At 4-months, we capture those sweet, gummy smiles and at 8-months we'll capture your little one's ability to sit up like a champ! These sessions are booked for 45 minutes, however, we often get everything we need in a much shorter amount of time. Your session includes a minimum of 20 digital images, posted to your personal on-line gallery. You will be able to download your images, share with friends or purchase prints directly from our professional lab. You can bring 3 outfits for your little growing bundle of joy or you can always choose to let your little one just show off all those sweet rolls and dimples in their birthday suit! We'll go through 3 different setups at each of these sessions. These sessions do not include photographs with parents or other siblings, but you can always add them on! There is a $65 fee to add on additional family members and that takes the place of one of your outfits/set ups.

{DETAILS} We recommend booking each of these sessions as far in advance as possible. Our calendar fills up quickly and we can't guarantee we can fit you in at your milestone if you wait too long to book. Your $50 retainer holds your spot and it does apply to your balance.

{WHAT TO BRING} Any outfits you'd like to use in your session. We will attempt to get through three outfits, however, that's usually dictated by your baby. If your baby has a toy or favorite item that makes noise and gets his or her attention, you're welcome to bring that as well. We don't recommend shoes for your baby. It's rare that you ever see anything but the bottom of the shoe and honestly, this is the only time in life toes are this cute, show them off!

  • One-Year + Cake Smash - These sessions could possibly be our favorite! Your little one is likely walking or very close to it. He or she is on the move! These sessions are booked for 45 minutes, however, we often get everything we need in a much shorter amount of time. Your session includes a minimum of 20 digital images PLUS an additional 15 images from the cake smash, posted to your personal on-line gallery. You will be able to download your images, share with friends or purchase prints directly from our professional lab. You can bring 2 outfits for your toddler (or 3 outfits if you choose not to do a cake smash) and we'll go through two setups plus your customized cake smash set up. These sessions do not include photographs with parents or other siblings, but you can always add them on! There is a $65 fee to add on additional family members and that takes the place of one of your outfits/set ups.

{DETAILS} We recommend booking as far in advance as possible. Our calendar fills up quickly and we can't guarantee we can fit you in at your milestone if you wait too long to book. Your $50 retainer holds your spot and it does apply to your balance. If you plan to use your child's photos for cards or posters at his or her one-year birthday party, make sure you book your session at least 3 weeks before the date you need them and let us know ahead of time. If you have a specific theme or colors, please let us know at least 2 weeks before your session. Your cake will be custom made and designed to match your theme and colors. If there is something specific you'd like, please let us know ahead of time.  Cake smashes can be messy! Be prepared to get your own fair share of cake and icing, thanks to your little one. No Momma (or Daddy) has gotten out of here totally clean yet.

{WHAT TO BRING} Any outfits you'd like to use in your session. We will attempt to get through 2 outfits plus the cake smash, however, that's usually dictated by your toddler. Please make sure you bring a towel and washcloth along with wipes, diapers, and a change of clothes to go home in. We have a sink where you can clean up your little cake-monster.

We sincerely appreciate that you share your sweet baby with us during their entire first year. It truly is one of the best parts of our jobs, watching your sweet family grow! And if you haven't booked your first year session with us, well whatcha waitin' for?!

*Please note, this new package does not affect anyone who is currently booked or who currently has a first-year package with us. Prices, packages and products subject to change without notice.

Whoa, Momma! https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/5/whoa-momma Sometimes everything just comes together, and an idea turns out exactly as you'd hoped. Put a couch in a creek?! Crazy, right?
We couldn't believe our eyes when we saw how absolutely stunning Keri was in her maternity session! Her baby, Andie, will be a lucky little lady if she ends up with a fraction of Momma's timeless beauty.

If you're interested in a Creative Maternity Session like Keri's, contact us for pricing. These sessions are a little more adventurous than our typical maternity sessions, but could be just what you've been dreaming of.

Thanks, Keri & Tim for trusting your photographer and going with the flow! (We can't wait to show you the rest!)

Bright-Eyed Baby Ellery https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/5/baby-ellery Last week we had the pleasure of a session with sweet Ellery! (Don't you just love that name?!)
She tried hard to stay awake during her session, afraid she was going to miss something. Those little eyes peeped up at us most of the session, but we were able to get some really precious shots of her that we know her family will love! This little one is very curious, Momma & Daddy will have their hands full once she gets mobile. :)

Thanks, Rachel for sharing your sweet girl with us! We can't wait to watch her grow.

Family Session in the Garden https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/5/family-session-in-the-garden We had such a great time this weekend with Landre, Jason and their kiddos, Aubry, Kennedy and little Mason! Mason was a little shy at first, but he warmed up and gave us some sweet smiles. This family was such a pleasure to capture!
If you haven't been to the gardens at Cragfont yet, now is the time to go. The roses are beautiful right now!
(We'll be offering a special family portrait package in the next week or so, that will include a beautiful 16x20 canvas print, so stay tuned!)

She Said Yes! https://www.snapbeanphotography.com/blog/2016/5/she-said-yes When I opened the studio, I knew that God had plans for my life and that He wanted the best for me.  For those of you who know me and who have watched me in this crazy, new business adventure, you know that it has been fun, rewarding, exhausting and hard.  The struggle has been real. The struggle has been intense. But the struggle has all been worthwhile!

I have had to wait on God, be very patient (oh, that is so hard for me!) and trust in His perfect timing.  He has answered me.

I am happy to announce the next chapter of Snapbean is about to begin and introduce to you the newest member of the team!  Her name is Amanda Wilmoth, but we call her Mandi (or Sally Field, as I call her). Some of you have already met her, as she's been helping me out part-time for several months. For those of you who haven't, I can't wait until you do! Here's a little bit about her and why I'm so excited 'She Said Yes!' when I asked her, officially, to join me...

Hey, y'all! I am so excited to be joining Donna in this new adventure!

As a Marketer/Graphic Designer/Photographer/Comedian/Mom/Writer/Creative Director, I hope to be a blessing here at Snapbean! I have a unique background that has prepared me well for this new adventure! I started in the publishing industry and worked for a pre-media company for 15 years. During that time, I also worked on several additional projects (including helping to launch three local magazines). I later went into a Marketing and Graphic Design position with a worldwide manufacturer, located in Hendersonville. And when I accepted the position with Snapbean, I was the Marketing/Design Manager for a company based out of Brentwood where I helped aide in an entire rebrand.

I am married to my very best friend Chris and have the funniest 5-year-old in the history of 5-year-olds! (All moms say that, right?) We live right here in Gallatin and as a family, we love to go fishing, play ball in the yard (with our dog, Lucy!), spend time at our farm and just hang out together.

I enjoy writing, cooking, being a Mom, photography and laughing. (I'm pretty silly... you'll find that out. :)

I am overwhelmed with excitement to join the Snapbean family! Donna is truly incredible at what she does, and I can't wait to learn from her and help take Snapbean to the next level. Thanks to all of you who have welcomed me already! I'm excited to work with you and your families and help create photos (and memories) you'll treasure forever.

Things are about to get (even more) fun!

Over the past three years, I have had a lot of wonderful families, friends, and clients who have stepped up to fill in the gaps whenever and wherever needed.  They have been an integral part of who we are today!  A HUGE thank you to all, but most importantly, thank you, Stephanie, Andrea, Sandra, Jeanne, and, of course, my sweet momma, for your love, support, hard work and belief in this city girl gone country!!

I am so excited to add Mandi to our team!  We will be sitting down and going over everything here at the studio; what works, what doesn’t work, what everyone loves and where we need to make changes.  Growth is always about change.  Change is always about making everything the best for our clients.  Our clients are what makes this dream a reality for us. We plan to introduce new products and new ways to communicate (starting with this, our first ever official blog, which we'll be regularly updating).

We appreciate all of you from the bottom of our hearts.  We love what we do and are so excited that you have entrusted us to capture special moments for you and your families over the years!
